Reflection On Learning
In this last month, school has started at the high school and I have been coaching for 3
months now. I have developed a better relationship with the students
and become more in touch with my own teaching strategies. I have noticed
that I am typically relaxed with my students but they know when it is
time to pay attention. I am leant on many things, as long as they are
getting their work done. I tell the students at the beginning of each
day what will be happening and I find it gives them an idea of what to
expect. I find this style of teaching and preparation for my students is
important in my content area, English. The reasons being that I want to
give my students the knowledge and preparation to complete activities,
but most importantly to allow them to use their own creativity to
develop their own creations. I will make sure to provide my students
with the most current information through differentiation instruction,
creatively, and digitally. Using many resources will allow for my
student to achieve their highest academic potential and allow myself to
teach them in the most effective ways.

Assignment 1A
How did your personality affect your choice of content area?
After taking both personality tests, it seems that I am an extrovert and intuitive on my ideas. I am decisive and when I have an idea to do something, it will get done in a timely manner. I am drawn towards imagination and innovation, which is one of the main reasons I enjoy English. This content area allows for students to think critically and figuratively. While reading stories and discussing the meanings what the authors may be portraying, I am able to see what the students are thinking. I will also use free writing as it allows for students to get in touch with inner self. This is an important aspect of English, because students are able to express themselves in so many ways throughout different writing, projects, presentations, etc. I think it is inspiring to see the different ways our youth thinks and will only encourage more free thoughts as I believe that is when some of the best knowledge is learned.
How does or will your personality affect your relationships with your students?
I am a strong believer in having respect for everyone, including my students. There should be a mutual respect between the teacher and the students and it should be given at all times. Based upon my personality, my relationship with my students should be great. Classroom rules and consistency with the way the classroom is run will be presented from the beginning of class. They will have an understanding of what I expect from them and if the rules are broken there will be consequences. I love to have fun and allow the students to express themselves, but when it is time to settle down and listen, it will be expected of them to do so in a timely manner. I believe my students will have an understanding of what I anticipate from them and know that I encourage their imaginative and passionate thinking.
How will your teaching and learning style affect your teaching and your students' abilities to be
successful?
Based upon my own learning style, my teaching and my students’ ability to be successful should have a positive outcome. Authority and differentiation will be given when teaching as I learn differently based upon the type of information given. I prefer a lot of visuals and group discussions as I have found some students create their best ideas when collaborating with others. My students will be encouraged to think imaginatively and expressively. Learning can be done in all different ways and it does not have to always be done with a book. My students will be given the opportunity to learn in various ways, in groups, and by themselves. Students will have to step out of their comfort zones, but throughout this process I believe they will create some of their best work. From my own personal experiences, the more diverse the activities demanded me to be, the more I was able to see the bigger picture at the end and form ideas that before I couldn’t even fathom.

Introduction
My name is Jaclyn Norman and I am 23 years old. I have been attending National University for almost 3 years now and thoroughly enjoy the online classes and the flexibility it gives. I spend most of my time with my family or working and would not change a thing! I love to help others in anyway possible and see the positive outcomes it can make. I work for the accounting department at a trucking company, own my own jewelery company and a craft boutique, and just became the dance coach at my local high school. I have been blessed with this opportunity as I will now be able to work with the students as that has always been my goal. I have always aspired to become a teacher as I love to teach others, collaborate, and continue to learn. I chose English as my content area because I felt the possibilities are endless in this department. I will be able to teach the students the main way of communication as well as teach them how to reflect on different aspects of their life. I am eager to get into the classroom and becoming the dance coach has got me one step closer.
